Anne Joutel
Anne Joutel is a French neurologist and neuroscientist. She is Inserm Research Director and currently leads a research team at the Institute of Psychiatry and Neuroscience of Paris. Joutel’s research focuses on understanding the pathogenic mechanisms of cerebral small vessel diseases, which account for ~25% of ischemic strokes, ~ 90% of intracerebral hemorrhages and are a leading cause of cognitive decline and disability. Anne Joutel has received numerous awards, including the prestigious Brain Prize in 2019 for her groundbreaking work in the field of CADASIL, the most frequent hereditary small vessel disease caused by mutations in the NOTCH3 receptor.
